Pi's Struggles To Survive
What would it be like to be stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? If you ever are Pi had got you covered, in Chapter 58, pages 166 to 167, he conducts a whole survival manual. If it were me I would go insane. Pi is struggling to stay alive after his many companions die. Spoiler Alert: Orange Juice, the sweet orangutan dies :(. And the poor zebra eaten alive by the crazy hyena. Pi is a warrior fending for himself. His only company now is the dangerous tiger, Richard Parker. He has finally taken control of this fierce tiger, his skills of running the family zoo could not have been more handy. I think where I am in the story Pi's main problem is food, I read the most disturbing chapter where, he actually tried to eat Richard Parker's waste. If you know what I mean.... poop, dung, whatever you want to call it. He is so hungry and food deprived that he imagines it is some tasty delicacy. Also at times when I read, I must remind myself that Pi does not die in the end. You may think that is a spoiler but, the whole story is being told through his perspective so, you are assured he will not die. Which is always comforting, that you know the character you are so attached to won't die. Now I am fully intrigued in this book it has me hooked and I am determined to finish reading this lovely novel.
